Heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne was laid to rest on Wednesday after a heartfelt public tribute and a private funeral service attended by family and close friends.

The day began with a touching procession through Birmingham’s Broad Street, where fans gathered in large numbers to bid farewell to the legendary Black Sabbath frontman, who passed away last week at 76. His hearse, followed by family members, made its way down the street accompanied by local brass ensemble Bostin Brass. The procession paused at the Black Sabbath bridge and commemorative bench, where mourners had been leaving flowers and messages since news of his death broke.

Sharon Osbourne, joined by her children Jack and Kelly, as well as other relatives, took a moment at the memorial to pay their respects and add their own floral tributes. Sharon appeared visibly emotional as fans applauded and cheered in remembrance.

Birmingham City Council said it worked closely and swiftly with the Osbourne family to ensure a meaningful and safe farewell event for the public. The private funeral service was held later in the day, attended by immediate family including Ozzy’s son Louis from his first marriage, grandchildren, surviving members of Black Sabbath, and friends from the rock and metal community, including members of Metallica.
