Construction Begins on the Panoramic Elevator in Puerto de Mazarrón
This Monday, February 10, the construction work for the panoramic elevator in the Peñasco area of Puerto de Mazarrón officially began. This ambitious project, promoted by Mayor Ginés Campillo as part of his municipal modernization plan, will connect Narciso Yepes Avenue with Viriato Street, representing a significant step forward in accessibility and urban renewal.
The start of construction marks a crucial moment for residents, who have long sought a solution to the access issues to the beach from this area.
Mayor Ginés Campillo expressed his satisfaction with the commencement of the works and reaffirmed his commitment to the municipality’s development. “Today, we take another step in the transformation of Puerto de Mazarrón, addressing a long-standing demand from our residents. This elevator will be a symbol of modernization and accessibility, contributing to improving the quality of life for our citizens,” he emphasized. He also noted that this initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance the town’s infrastructure and image.
The project is estimated to take approximately six months to complete, involving excavation, foundation, and elevator assembly work. The design of the panoramic elevator will feature glass walls, allowing users to enjoy stunning views of the surroundings, making it an additional attraction for both tourists and residents.
The new infrastructure will significantly improve mobility for the elderly and those with reduced mobility, who have previously faced difficulties accessing the beach. This long-awaited project will bring tangible benefits to the entire community.
The project is part of the Mazarrón Urban Plan, a comprehensive modernization program that includes various improvements in the area, such as sidewalk renovations, enhanced public lighting, beautification of green spaces, and improved access routes. The construction of the panoramic elevator is a key element within these efforts, reinforcing the municipal government’s commitment to accessibility and urban development.
The company responsible for the project has already begun preliminary work, and it is expected that the construction will proceed according to schedule. This initiative strengthens the commitment to improving essential infrastructure in the municipality, facilitating access, and enhancing one of the most iconic areas of Puerto de Mazarrón. It is part of a broader urban revitalization strategy aimed at transforming the town into a more modern and functional environment.
